The Garrett PD 6500i is a world-leading walk-through metal detector engineered for high-volume, high-accuracy security screening. With transmitters and receivers in each panel, the PD 6500i operates as two detectors in one, scanning from both sides to ensure superior detection and reduce the need for hand-held metal detectors. Its multi-dimensional coil design uses 33 distinct pinpoint zones to provide unmatched detection of potentially lethal metal items such as guns, knives, and other flat and rod-shaped weapons.

The unit is TSA-qualified to meet the Enhanced Metal Detector (EMD) specifications for U.S. airports and is approved for use in demanding environments including UK and US airports, prisons, and court environments, meeting or exceeding industry safety and electromagnetic compatibility (CE) standards. Built-in interference suppression uses Garrett’s DSP circuitry to eliminate effects from x-ray monitors and other electrical interference sources, while dual channels and DSP circuitry allow multiple PD 6500i units to operate simultaneously in close proximity to one another.

The system offers sixteen independent programs designed to meet installation-specific requirements, including EMD requirements for U.S. airports, and includes a traffic counter that tracks the number of patrons passed through, the number of alarms, and calculates alarm percentage. Four counting settings are available — forward, reverse, subtract in reverse, and bi-directional — and walkthroughs can be managed individually or as groups with statistical analysis via the iC Module. The detector supports multiple channels and offers 2,300 selectable operating frequencies, and is designed to pair with existing checkpoints, operating alongside other brand units.

The unit operates on standard power (100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) and uses just 45 watts, with an optional battery pack providing up to 10 hours of cordless operation. It carries an IP55 weatherproof rating with an operational temperature range of -20°C to +70°C.
